MEMORIES + HANDMADE OATMEAL SOAP

One of my many resolutions was to use more homemade items in both day to day life and when giving gifts. I believe that when you make something, you put love and meaning into it. There are memories behind things that are homemade. I want to fill my home with things that have meaning, not just things that I quick pick up at Target (not that I don't love me some Target).

While we were still in Minnesota, I spent a few evenings with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law making homemade soap. They've both been making soap for several years, but I'd never tried it before so I was excited to give it a try. We tried several different recipes, but this one was my absolute favorite! It's so easy to make too! Plus, now I have beautiful soap that will always have a memory behind it.

OATMEAL SOAP

Ingredients Needed
// goat's milk suspending soap (bars of Dove soap work too!)
// soap mold or cupcake pan
// oatmeal
// almond soap fragrance
// cinnamon
// honey

Directions

01 | Cut soap into small cubes and melt in microwave 30 seconds at a time, until liquid. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't overflow.

02 | Prepare ingredients. Grind oatmeal to preferred consistancy (thicker makes a little bit better exfoliant).

03 | Pour oatmeal, almond fragrance, cinnamon, and honey into melted soap and stir. We did varying amounts of everything for different scents and appearances.

04 | Lightly grease molds with oil to make soap removal easier. Pour mixture into molds and let harden.

So easy! Let me know if you've made soap before or if you try it!

  7. I read that book keeping is a part of accounting. Book keeping is recording transactions while accounting is recording, reporting and analyzing of financial information.
